California Law Enforcement
Patch Collection
 New
Information Added Below
The purpose of this site is to serve as an eventual reference guide
to fellow collectors and for departments that may not even know
about their own history.
To get started on viewing the collection, please click on the
"California Collection" tab on the left side of the page.
The patches will be organized on the pages by COUNTY, and then
listed in alphabetical order by
CITY. The cities are placed in their respective counties using
information obtained from the California State Association of
Counties web site.
Not all of the patches that have been worn by California law
enforcement agencies are featured on this site. This is just what I
have in my collection. I do not claim that the information and/or
details provided on this site are accurate, however, I do my best to
relay accurate information I have to my visitors. I also do not
claim to have designed or to have made these patches. These patches
are genuine department issued patches and have passed an extensive
examination procedure to verify it's authenticity.
If you see something that needs to be corrected, please
EMAIL ME.
If you are a member of a department and would like to
contribute to this site in any way via information (patch history,
years worn, etc.) or patch contributions, please e-mail me.
All help and information would be greatly appreciated.
If
necessary, I will reimburse the department for
all costs incurred if a
patch is sent.
THE PATCHES THAT I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION
ARE NOT BEING SOLD, TRADED, GIVEN AWAY, OR MISUSED IN ANY WAY,
SHAPE, OR FORM. THESE PATCHES ARE BEING USED FOR HISTORICAL
DOCUMENTATION PURPOSES ONLY AND ARE OCCASIONALLY ON DISPLAY AT LAW
ENFORCEMENT SHOWS IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA.
97.3% OF THE PATCHES IN MY COLLECTION ARE STORED IN A SECURE SAFE
OFF SITE. ALL PATCHES ARE INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGED TO PROTECT AGAINST
MOISTURE, MOTHS, AND OTHER NATURAL ELEMENTS THAT MAY CAUSE DEFECTS,
STAINS, AND/OR TEARS. |

DID YOU KNOW???
Some patches that feature the California state seal have a cactus
in the logo when the official state seal does not.
The three stars featured on
Maywood-Cudahy's 2008 version patch represent the 3 fallen officers
in the department's history. A prototype version is available with
just a hyphen in place of the 3 stars.
The Mendota Police
Department has opened back up for business on 09-01-09 after being
defunct for some time. Their current patch resembles the last issued
patch, but in a CHP style shape.
The McFarland Police Department has
opened back up for business on 01-01-2010, relieving the Kern County
Sheriff's Department of most official duties within city limits.

PATCH OF THE MONTH
February 2010

This patch is VERY rare given the MINT (10)
condition that it is in. The reason why it is so rare to find is
because the South Gate City Council ordered the PD to switch back to
the plain patches that feature the yellow bear after a corruption
scandal that hit the department in the early 2000's. It is believed
that the patches that were recalled were destroyed. It is unknown
how many are left in the collecting world as few have made their way
into the hands of collectors.
Estimated Value: $40.00-$150.00+ D.O.C.
